The Salvation Army's Operations in Blount County Have Been Helping to Meet the Needs of the Community for Over Ten Years.
We believe that love is a verb, and best demonstrated by the example of Jesus Christ. So inspired, we look to find ways to partner and cooperate with our neighbors to respond best to needs in our community.
Relatives Raising Kids
Did you know that between 5 and 10 percent of our county’s schoolchildren are being raised by a relative other than a parent? We conduct at least monthly field trips and events for children aged 6 to 12, which provide respite for relative caregivers and recreation for children.
Summer Camp
Every summer, The Salvation Army sends children to its camp in Burkesville, KY to enjoy a week of fun and challenge at a Christian camp.
Friday Free Food and Fellowship
Generously hosted by Broadway United Methodist Church (located at 309 E. Broadway), we provide free lunch every Friday. Everyone is welcome!
Angel Tree
Each year, we provide Christmas assistance to children from families with low incomes or a recent financial challenge. Parents and guardians register early and receive clothes and toys for children, aged up to 17. We also provide Christmas assistance to seniors and vulnerable adults with low income, as part of our Silver Bells initiative. This year, we will provide Christmas gifts to over 450 children and vulnerable adults.
Emergency Financial Assistance
Through the generous support of our community, The Salvation Army is able to provide emergency financial assistance for those needing help with rent, utilities, and emergency lodging. Frome time-to-time we are also able to assist with some more unique requests. If you need assistance, please call our office to set up an appointment.
